Founded 2016 — Eclectic, Alabama
Home of Lake Martin Machine Gun. Alabama’s premier full-auto machine gun experience and private shooting range, built on 90 acres of Alabama countryside by two people with a simple mission: bring history back to life.
Lake Martin Machine Gun was founded in 2016 by David and Jodie McGirt with a specific mission: to bring historic fully automatic firearms out from behind museum glass and put them in the hands of everyday people — safely, educationally, and memorably.
“The genesis of the shooting experience was to bring some firearms from history back to life and allow people to experience shooting those firearms in a safe, educational environment,” says David McGirt. “Most people only see these firearms behind glass in a museum or on TV. On TV and in the movies, they are not represented accurately.”
What started as a machine gun experience has grown into Lake Martin Gun Club — a full shooting facility with a member range, group event capabilities, and an arsenal of 30+ firearms spanning over a century of military history.
Co-Founder & Owner
David brings decades of experience and a deep knowledge of firearms history to every guest interaction. His briefings on the heritage of each weapon are a defining part of the Lake Martin Machine Gun experience.
Co-Founder & NRA-Certified Instructor
NRA-certified firearms instructor and founder of the Lake Martin chapter of A Girl & A Gun Women’s Shooting League. Jodie’s mission is to make firearms accessible, safe, and approachable for everyone — especially first-time shooters and women new to shooting sports.
Safety is non-negotiable at Lake Martin Gun Club. Every session begins with a comprehensive safety briefing. Certified range safety officers are present at all times. We cover proper stance, muzzle discipline, trigger control, and weapon-specific procedures before any firearm is touched.
We’re also committed to history. The firearms in our collection aren’t just weapons — they’re artifacts. Every gun has a story, and our specialists take pride in sharing it. Many of our guests leave knowing more about 20th century military history than they expected.
